GLOBAL RAPID RUGBY IS BACK

Global Rapid Rugby 2020 Full Season kicks off in Hong Kong on the 13th March. Six teams, 31 Matches, AU$1m prize pool.

The six team competition will see each team play each other twice, home and away, with the top two playing in the Grand Final in Perth on the 5th or 6th of June 2020. With adapted rules ensuring fast-paced and high scoring watch, it promises to be an exciting 10 weeks of rugby.

Hong Kong, home of the FWD South China Tigers, will comprise of a combination of ERP and top premiership players from the domestic league.

There are few competitions in the world that can offer the diverse play of rugby that will occur in Global Rapid Rugby. The six teams include Western Force, South China Tigers, Fijian Latui, Manuma Samoa, Malaysia Valke and another Asian based team. The well drilled Australians, free-flowing Fijians and hard hitting Samoans will be sure to form quite the opponents for our Tigers and will ensure a great watch for each and every challenge.

The tournament has rejuvenated the rules of rugby, with the aim of maximising ball in play time to create a faster, more exciting game. The new rules include teams being able to score a power try worth 9 points, kicks not allowed to go directly into touch even if they are kicked inside the 22 and rolling substitutions, all whilst limiting the game to 35 minute halves.

The focus on entertainment is not just for on the pitch but off it as well. Global Rapid Rugby defines the concept of ‘sportertainment’. With pre-match, half-time and post-match activations, ranging from dragon dances to music showcases, Rapid Rugby ensure that everyone, rugby fan or not, can enjoy a fun day out.
